In the last update—Cameron finally accepted his role as a father, while Amanda worked on reaching the top of her career and making more friends. Alyssa reconciled with her stepfather, Cameron. However, Alyssa began to have doubts about her boyfriend, George McCarthy. Matthew grew from a baby to a child.

Season 6—Winter

Amanda’s first objective after Matthew became a child was to get him into private school. Having grown up mostly at boarding school herself, she didn’t really trust the public education system. Luckily, with Amanda’s schmoozing skills and Alyssa’s cooking ability, getting acceptance into private school was a breeze.

Then it was right back to socializing. Amanda still had work to do if she wanted to be the most popular girl in Emerald Isle. The easiest thing she could think of to increase her popularity was to throw the classiest Christmas party in town. Cameron made the snacks while Amanda started the tunes playing. Before long, everyone was having a great time.

The party did the trick. Amanda finally had 20 best friends. She was the most popular girl in Emerald Isle. She’d achieved the thing she’d wanted her entire life.

Alyssa and George had a great time at the party. Alyssa loved her boyfriend. It was fun to kiss him and dance with him. She still worried if he would be the great father she wanted for her kids. Alyssa told herself that it was only because of her mother’s experiences that she worried so much, but that didn’t make her nagging feeling go away. Still, she tried to ignore.

That night Alyssa talked to George about college. She wanted them both to go the same place, but she wasn’t sure if he’d prefer Academie Le Tour or Sim State.

“George, what college do you think we should go to next year?” Alyssa asked him.

“College?” he asked in confusion. “Oh, I’m not going to college, Alyssa. I have great plans to earn my fortune. Don’t worry, I’ll be able to support you and our family like we talked about, but we don’t need a college education for my plans.”

“But . . . but . . . I want to go to college. I’ve always wanted to be a teacher, and you really need a college education to be a teacher.” Alyssa was completely shocked. What kind of career would earn a fortune without needing an education?

“You won’t have to work, Aly. I promised I’d always take care of you,” George reassured her.

“George, there’s one thing that I’ve learned from my mother. Family means everything to me, but I need to be able to take care of myself. I want to go to college, and I want to be a teacher.”

“Okay, fine, Aly, if you want to go to college, then go.” George said sullenly. “Just don’t expect me to wait for you.”

Alyssa broke into tears. “Get out of my house, you jerk! You aren’t the man I thought you were.”

Heartbroken, Alyssa still would not be deterred from her dreams. She was going to go to Academie Le Tour. When she graduated, she was going to get a job as a teacher. Alyssa also wasn’t giving up on her dream of a family some day. She knew there were good men out there. She’d meet a good man that would love her and treat her right and be there for the family she would have some day. With that in mind, Alyssa applied for some scholarships to Academie Le Tour. She received grants for all skills, her grades, and her dancing ability.

Before no time, Amanda was in tears as her little girl left for college.

Cameron hoped that since Amanda had finally achieved her lifetime want in popularity status and since she had reached the top of the career, she would spend some more time at home with Matthew. That would leave him free to explore some of his other ambitions. With that in mind, he took a job in the music career track. He really enjoyed his job. He got to do crazy stuff like climb into the rafters at a concert to fix a speaker. Eventually his antics got him promoted to Studio Musician.

Cameron was surprised when Matthew asked him if he would help him with his homework when he got home from work. “Didn’t your mom help you?” Cameron asked. It was late. Matthew should have had his homework done a long time ago.

“No, she was entertaining guests. She said something about getting 30 best friends. I knew you’d help me with it, though. You will, won’t you, Dad?”

“Of course, bud.” Cameron gave his son a hug.

It was late, but Cameron was able to successfully help his son with his homework and still allow some time for play before bedtime.

It was a hard balance, but Cameron always put Matthew first. He wished that Amanda would spend more time with him, but Cameron understood that just wasn’t her personality. So, Cameron helped Matthew with his homework, but had fun with him, too. He even involved him in his music. Before long, Matthew was doing great in school.

Even better, he’d really picked up his father’s musical ability. Matthew was chosen to be Emerald Isle Academy’s Orchestra Concertmaster.

What Cameron didn’t know is that Amanda was pregnant again. She didn’t know how to tell Cameron. He’d flipped out so badly when she’d told him that she was pregnant with Matthew. She didn’t know how he would react to finding out that he was going to be a father again. It wasn’t like she’d TRIED to get pregnant. She just seemed to be the most fertile woman she’d ever met. In the end, Amanda decided to just wait until she was showing. Cameron would figure it out on his own.

His reaction wasn’t anything like she had anticipated. “You’re pregnant again, aren’t you, Amanda?” he asked.

“Yes,” she finally admitted rather nervously.

“It’s okay, Amanda. I’m actually enjoying being a dad. Once I got over my fear, well . . . I really like caring for Matthew. I’d love to have another child.”

“Oh, Cameron,” she jumped into his arms for a hug, well as much as a very pregnant woman could jump.

Luckily, they also finally had the money to afford to expand their family. Cameron’s record with the band, Gato’s Fury, sold out, earning him 15,000. It also earned him a promotion to Concert Pianist.

Forced to stay home for maternity leave, Amanda finally got some quality time with Matthew. She loved her son so much; it was just that time seemed to pass away, just like it had with Alyssa. Stuck at home, Amanda was able to focus on what was important. At the moment, that was reading a story to Matthew.

They had a large family celebration on Christmas day. Gary, Regina, and Ethan were invited. Alyssa and Evan came home from college for the Christmas holiday. Amanda was so happy to have her little girl home, even if it was just for a short break. It was great to have the whole extended family together.

Amanda went into labor right in the middle of Christmas dinner.

The Corys got a baby girl for Christmas. Amanda named her Rachel, after her mother. Amanda wasn’t close to her mother, but as she got older, she respected her family heritage more and more. She wanted her little girl to now that she’s a Cory.

All of the relatives wanted an opportunity to hold Rachel. Gary and Regina were expecting a second child again soon. Even Evan wanted to hold his baby cousin.

After all of the excitement of the delivery, they still had their Christmas gift exchange. Evan was overjoyed that his Uncle Cam had bought him any present at all.

Cameron even surprised Amanda with a new pair of diamond earrings.

But, there was one surprise left. Santa came! He left a teddy bear for Matthew.

Author’s Notes

I chose to have Alyssa and George break up. I really liked George, but I realized that Alyssa is the only female sim I can find with good enough genetics for another sim. So, she’s eventually going to hook up with that other sim. I accidentally saw George’s LTW while changing his skintone in SimsPE. He wanted to be a Criminal Mastermind. That’s not why I chose not to have their relationship continue, but it seemed like a good enough reason for a break up. I’m sure a future sim will hook up with George’s grandson or something later on in my hood.

I’m still in love with Matthew. He’s so adorable. I also had Cameron encourage him so that’s he’s nice now. I liked him so much; I decided to let Amanda and Cameron have more children, against my better judgment.

Does anyone know if being best friends with Santa Claus counts towards her 30 simultaneous best friends? Just so you know, you only have to leave out cookies, have a Christmas tree, and have a fire place for Santa to show up. If you greet him, you become instantaneous best friends.

  1. Oh, that was the best "family christmas" I've seen in the sims. Everything looked so perfect and real--I loved the shot with the turkey! I knew about getting Santa to come, but not about the greeting/best friends part--I think he should count, but I have no idea whether he really does.

I'm looking forward to learning who Alyssa will pair up with, in the end.

  2. Congratulations Robin, for finally getting Amanda to perma-plat. I remember you saying how much trouble you were having before. Good for you.
You're hooking up Alyssa purely for genetics? I'm shocked. Interested, but shocked.

  3. When your Sim has 30 best friends they get a memory of it. One of mine got it recently courtesy of the wishing well and it's power to give 3 friends. Actually wishing for 3 freinds with the well is handy as romance aswell cos they get 3 new friends to love instead of just one love.
    Loving you blog!

  4. Loved this update! I thought I had left a comment before, but I guess it didn't go through correctly...Anyhoo, I loved the Christmas parties, especially the family party at the end! The kids sure do grow up fast, but at least they've got Rachel now to fill that void!
