The Werewolves of Baton Rouge—Round 6 Amber

Back to the main legacy house now. I’ve decided to start labeling the rounds like a normal prosperity round. This is basically round six in the main legacy house, so we’ll start there.

In the main legacy house we have heir Amber and her husband, Rene Cormier. They have a little boy, Daniel. Also still living in the house is Amber’s big brother Toby, his wife Allyson Dubose, and their son, Christopher. Amber’s lifetime want is Illustrious Artist, and now that I have Ambitions I can actually maker her career writing.

Also new with Ambitions is laundry! I kind of love how it works. It’s like brushing their teeth. You don’t HAVE to do it, but if you choose to do it you get some benefits. Just a little something fun you can have your sim do from time to time to add realism.

Rene is trying to get to the top of the athletic career. That means lots of jogging for him.

Both Rene and Toby are great dads to their little boys.

Ghost appearance! It’s Jessie!!!! I’m so glad his ghost decided to come out.

He went to the exercise equipment right away. I guess he was reenacting things he did when he was alive.

Once again it is Amber that greets the ghost, and they talk about their family.

Amber likes being able to talk to her dead parents, but it makes her kind of sad too. She needs a hug and kiss from Rene when her dad is gone. Which ended up getting a little heated . . .

He has Amber/Jessie’s hair and eyes, but Rene’s skin tone. I love him. I think he’s absolutely adorable. He’s got a little chubby face, but it’s so cute.

Poor Christopher didn’t make it down to the birthday cake during his party in time, so he aged up in his room.

He looks a lot like his cousin Tommy (Matty’s second child) actually. He has Allyson’s eyes. Oh, and this is interesting. Unlike what I was told, he inherited the black hair even though neither Toby or Allyson had black hair at the time. So I’m going to say he got Morgana’s genetics. We’ll have to see in my game if you really can inherit a grandparents recessive genetics or if it was only that Toby had those genetics but I changed his hair color.

Having toddlers means it’s toddler skilling time. At least by having the siblings live together I have four adults to help care for them and teach them.

It’s probably easiest to blog all of the career and skill progress with a wrap-up of the accomplishments this round.

Amber maxed out her painting skill. That’s halfway to her lifetime want (Illustrious Author). Now I just need to have her focus on her writing. I’d like to get her to the top of her writing career as well, but the game doesn’t seem to be registering her profits like it should be. Her career meter didn’t progress when she got her royalties check on Sunday. She did jump from level 1 to level 4 all in one moment when she finished a book. She’s now a paperback pauper. Her writing skill is at level 9.

Allyson completed the Proficient Painter Skill Challenge (number of brilliant paintings) and completed her lifetime want of becoming a Visionary (maxing painting and photography skill). She’s an Investigative Reporter (level 6) in the journalism career.

Toby completed the Master Farmer Skill Challenge (harvested 650 fruits and vegetables) and Botanical Boss Skill Challenge (75 perfect fruits). He’s also a Top Secret Researcher (level 8) in his career.

Rene is making slow progress on his goals. He’s a Minor Leaguer (level 4) in his career now. I’ve found the sports career is harder to progress in than others because there is no “work hard” tone. No idea why. Someone tell Peyton Manning you can’t work hard at your career in sports. Oh well. He’s also only level 2 in the chess ranking. Wow, that one is harder than I realized! I’m going to have to make him dedicate more time to chess.

The Werewolves of Baton Rouge—Alicia Post 1

This house is Alicia, one of Jessie Winchester’s triplet girls, and her new husband Connor Baum Winchester.  Alicia is ambitious and wants to be doctor.  Connor is snobby and a schmoozer.  He wants to create the perfect wine cellar, but I think I’m going to change his lifetime wish when I have the points.  I put him in the business career.

Alicia gets into the medical career right away and makes good progress in promotions.   Her logical is really high, and since she’s ambitious I have her work hard all the time.

I let Connor get a nectar maker and work on gardening.  I used testingcheatsenabled true buydebug to buy it.  I don’t really feel the urge to play with World Adventures vacations much.  I’ve never played around with nectar making so I’ll give it a try, but that cellar just sounds crazy hard.  I think it’s just going to be a nectar making hobby, which should work well with the business career because business doesn’t require a skill to progress.  But goodness nectar making is hard!  Gardening is hard enough because it doesn’t increase fun and decreases hygiene horribly.  But on top of that you have to add the nectar making, which doesn’t increase fun very much at all.  The combinations to make good nectar is hard to figure out too.  I’m not really having too much fun with it, but I’m going to give it a shot with playing around.  Any advice on nectar making would be greatly appreciated.

Alicia easily maxed out her logic skill and completed the Celestial Explorer skill challenge.  She’d spent a lot of time on the telescope as a child and teen.

Alicia and Connor seem to be having an easier time with money due to all of Alicia’s promotions, so they try for a baby sooner than Christy and Andres.

Why is it that when you start trying for a baby thinking that if it takes a few times that’s okay, you get pregnant right away?  Oh well.

It’s a girl.  Note this is the first time that eating apples has failed me, but I think I had her eat the third one too late in her pregnancy.  Anyway, here’s baby Selene.  Selene is a vampire, not a werewolf in my roleplay.  Think Selene from Underworld.

The Werewolves of Baton Rouge—Christy Post 1

Christy is the oldest of the triplets.  She married Andres March, a firefighter with base game.  I bought Ambitions almost exclusively for Andres, so he could get his firefighter job back.    So, yay, I have Ambitions now!  I might incorporate some parts of the career challenge into my play now too.

We start off by Andres getting his firefighter job back.  Also, as soon as I had enough points, I changed Andres’ lifetime wish to the firefighter one, rescue 30 sims from fires.  That might be hard, harder than reaching the top of the firefighter career, but I really wanted him to be a firefighter from the moment Christy noticed him.

I’ve found that the firefighter career is super, super easy.  It’s much easier than traditional careers because you can send your sim to work hungry or with low fun and improve those things while at work!  My normal sims are almost always late for work, but I found myself sending him to work extra early because he could replenish his needs easier at the nice firehouse anyway.  Most of the time he eats, showers, and has some fun at first at work. 

Here’s Andres ‘working’:

You can work on skills after hours and gain job experience.  There really isn’t a start and stop time for this job, just hours during which you might have to respond to a fire.  But Andres increased levels many times not during working hours.

The huge downside of it to me is that he hardly seems to get paid anything at all.  He gets paid weekly on Sunday afternoon.  That meant I had to play the whole round without money from his job.  Hard!  He did get money for putting out a fire, but I only had 3 fires this week, so that didn’t amount to much.  He got paid a lot less than Christy this week.  What’s really missing are promotion bonuses.

Here’s some pictures of Andres fighting fires.  At first I was kind of scared for him.  Fire is dangerous and scary in sims.  But I find I enjoy the challenge and puzzle of putting everything out and getting everything necessary done.

Now he’s finally looking like the Andres Christy fell in love with.

Part of the firefighter job requirements is improving athletic skill, so I had Andres do strength workouts.  That really helped his job.

But oh my goodness he got buff really quickly!  He’s only athletic level 5, but he got all the way muscular super fast.  I can’t believe how body builder he looks so fast.

Christy worked at her job in law enforcement.  She’s athletic and easily maxed out the athletic skill.

And she worked after hours on her job too.  I learned from experience with her mother.  I had Christy question her brothers and sisters for police reports.  “Hey, Alcide, can I question you for work?”

Alcide:  “What?  I didn’t do anything!”

Christy:  “Oh, I know.  Apparently this is a good, friendly thing.  They just want to know what you’re into and it helps my progress at work.”

Alcide:  “Oh, okay, Sis”

Christy also dug through the trash of some houses in the neighborhood, hoping to stumble upon a criminal, but I don’t think we had much luck.

Here’s another awesome thing from Sims 3.  If you invite over someone with a toddler, they might bring the toddler with them.  So cute!

Christy and Andres are very much in love.  I think they have great genetics.  They want kids, and I definitely want to use them to create new characters, but they had to wait this round.  They were just too broke from not getting a paycheck from Andres’ job, and I wanted to focus on their careers first anyway.

The Werewolves of Baton Rouge—Alcide Post 1

This house is the third Winchester boy, Alcide, and his new bride, Frances Lum Winchester.  I put them in a prebuilt house for the first time in sims 3, but it took money from the legacy house to buy, so that’s fair.  They’ve got a cute cottage type house, but all the furnishings they’ll have to earn themselves.  Alcide just started out in the sports career, but he has maxed athletic skill already, so he should do well.  Frances’ lifetime want is golden fingers/golden tongue.  I put her in the politics career, which I think will be hard, but goes well with her lifetime want.

Lifetime Want—Golden Fingers/Golden Tongue

Alcide and Frances really seem to love their new house.  I usually hate Maxis houses, and I was being lazy giving them this one, but it’s actually a really, really cute house.  I find myself doing things different than I normally do, but in a good way.  I really like it, and my sims do too.

I built a small pond in the backyard and had Alcide stock it with some basic fish.  Unfortunately I’ve read that you can never get a ‘great place to fish’ in a pond you stock, but it will be a good, quick place for my sims in the neighborhood to get a quick fun burst or work on a bit of fishing skill when time is short before work or when they need to stay close to home with kids.

Alcide already has the athletic skill maxed, but I’ve been working on the body builder challenge with him.  He achieves that within a few days of being a young adult.  That also means I’ve achieved all of the athletic skill challenges between Jessie and Alcide.

Frances and Alcide both want a child right away, so I let them try.

And they do get pregnant right away too.

Frances spent her maternity leave at the park and near the shops performing her guitar to work on her guitar skill and earn tips.  She did pretty well earning money that way.

Sookie is my first non-werewolf sim, so I thought I’d try to make her traits match book/tv Sookie.

Sookie’s family tree.  I wanted to show you Frances’ so you can see Uncle Lawrence, too.

Uncle Connor is a great babysitter.  That’s one way to do it.  I love that they can do some other things while holding the baby in Sims 3.

Notice that I tried to see if you can see eye color as a baby, but I don’t think you can.  I thought hers were going to be like Frances’, but they’re like Alcide’s.  I think she’s very pretty and very Sookie-like.

One of my favorite things in sims 3 is watching what my neighbors are doing.  Here’s an adorable picture of Sam and Tommy bonding in their backyard.  They live next door to Alcide.
